Im 41 weeks today and doctor told that they will induce on 31st. till now im not effaced or dilated and cervix has not opened what is induction proces?

Oxytocin: To induce labor they give you a substance call pitocin (oxytocin). This hormone is the exact same as the one your body naturally produces and releases when beginning labor. Congratulations and my bet wishes for a happy health baby and mother.

Options to induce: Several options exist for inducing labor. If your cervix is not favorable (read about bishop score), a prostaglandin medication may be used initially in the vagina (cervidil, cytotec). Next Pitocin (oxytocin) can be started to help with contractions. Sometimes Cytotec is continued to help with contractions. If the mom and baby are doing fine, this may be extended more than one day.
