Varies: There are alot of causes of irregular periods some more serious than others. You will need an evaluation to determine the cause. Testing includes blood work, a possible endometrial biospy and pelvic ultrasound. Causes could be hormonal, excessive exercise, poor diet or medical problems such as thyroid disease.
