Phlebitis: Sounds like phlebitis or mild localized thrombophlebitis. Have the dr's office who ordered the blood drawn, or your pcp, check you out. Good luck.

Normal variant: After an IV the vein needs to heal . Ice may help if it hurts and will reduce inflammation symptoms. It should go away over time.
