A member asked:

I noticed, when i have heavy acidity for couple of days, my leg affected by gout starts to pain.is there any relationship?

No: There is no relationship between heart burn and gout. Our stomachs are naturally very acidic. This serves as a first line immune defense. The ph of our stomachs is normally 1. The low number indicates highly acidic (water has a ph of 7, neutral). Gout is caused by crystal formation in your joint space. Uric acid is the chemical that crystallizes and it has no relation to the acidity of your stoma.

Yes, : Gout is caused by an increase in uric acid in the blood. When a distal extremity cools gouty crystals form and can induce a gouty attack. An acidic condition will never reduce the uric acid level.
