Piriformis: Lumbosacral disc disease can cause pain that radiates into the buttock and down the leg. Compression of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle in the butt cheek can do the same but pain rarely goes below the knee. There are exercises that help stretch the muscle to take pressure off the nerve. If pain radiate to the foot, see a doctor. Pain can radiate form the hip to knee if tfl is tight. Pt.
