I have a sharp pain shooting from my lower back down to my hip ad down my leg. cant stand for long very irrating pain. as long as i am sitting down its fine, as soon a i stand up, it shoots a pain unbearabley down my leg. couldthis b a pinched nerve? i ha

It : It sounds like you have a pinched nerve root in your back. This may be due to a herniated disc. I usually treat with oral steroids. Sometimes a medication called Neurontin (gabapentin) helps with burning pain. You should have an MRI if symptoms persist or if you have weakness or bowel/bladder problems. It usually resolves without an operation but surgery to decompress the nerve may be needed.
