Depends: This depends on what your imaging reveals. Lumbar stenosis can cause back pain and pain into thighs which are worse with ambulation. Decompression can help this with or without a fusion depending on your specific image and exam. However you are very young for something like this to happen. Please be seen and evaluated.

Often: After a person has failed non-operative care for a pinched nerve, surgical decompression has a high success rate for improving radicular (nerve) pain.
