No question here: Nice of you to help a friend. I am guessing you are concerned about health effects. Aside from muscle strain from pulling and lifting, there is the issue of old lead paint on the drywall as well as dust from the gypsum in the drywall. A short term exposure is unlikely to be a problem but it is always best to wear a protective mask when doing this type of work.
