Yes: Calcification in a solitary pulmonary nodule indicates a high probability that the lesion is benign (not malignant). However, some malignant lesions can calcify and any time a mass or nodule is enlarging one has to be concerned about the possibility of a malignancy. The only way to determine this is with a biopsy, which can usually be done with a needle under imaging guidance (flouroscopy or ct).
