Depends on cause: There are many causes of knee pain. It could be due to a simple injury or sprain, it could be a ligament damage or it could be due to nastier causes such as infection. At other times if it is long term and ongoing, this could be due to arthritis. You need to see a Dr to diagnose the cause of the knee pain first before deciding what the treatment is.
