EMG: You may have a neuropathy and an EMG may help sort this out. Neuropathy can have many causes and proving you have one can start the work up.

Peripheral neuropath: Potentially your problem involves peripheral nerves, and a variety of problems could be considered such as diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, etc. An EMG test should help in pinning down the process, assuming you have a large fibre neuropathy. But you could possess a small fibre situation, and best, if there is a question, to get a skin punch biopsy.
