also how long does it take for your stomach to go down after a cystectomy?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Richard Zienowicz
37 years experience Plastic Surgery
Varies: Some individuals show little fullness even after a few weeks of healing while others take several months for swelling to disappear. Things to avoid are high salt diets and drinking excessive volumes of fluids. Follow your thirst. After a few weeks an abdominal binder can help but ask your surgeon about this first. Start walking and return to exercise once your surgeon gives you the green light.
