Too much: Usually when the dose is that high it's prescribed once a month. Take a look at the directions. Unless you have a significant deficiency i usually recommend about 1000 units of d-3 a day. Remember you will be taking this the rest of your life so think low dose long term :).

Steroids: Sometimes steroids are necessary to offset the effects of vitamin d toxicity, especial if the serum calcium level is high. Talk to your doctor.

Stop it for now: Vitamin at 20, 000 iu is excessive. Typically, treatment for low vitamin d is about 50, 000iu per week. If using as supplement, 1000-2000 iu/day should be plenty. Anyhow, any medication/vitamin that is causing excessive side effects, stop it and inform doc why you had to do so. The treatment should not be worse than the condition itself. Get some natural vitd--the sun. Consult your doc. Good luck.
