Family practice : Asthma is usually inherited. However it can be aggravated /made worse by smoking, allergies , and infection. Scarring from any of these may occur from recurrent episodes. Follow your drs advice and treatment. There is no cure, only preventative measures.

Asthma: Don't know ur medical condition or history but if you do have true diagnosis asthma, the lungs remodel over the years causing chronic irreversible changes. Can be seen in smokers or those who worked in dust and fumes for years. May be referred to as chronic obstruct. Pulmonary disease. But different sized tubes. Dr. Or pulmonologist can test w pulmonary function test. Advise get it get platreatmen.
