Of course: You can eat fruit and anything else with sugar. Sugar intake doesn't cause diabetes and no one eats pure sugar for a meal. Sugar, however, has empty calories without nutrition. Eat a healthy well balanced diet, exercise, and lose weight if necessary. Try to steer toward high glycemic index foods. Check w/a registered dietitian. You can eat almost anything, if you do it properly don't become a monk.
