Dr. Pam Yoder answered

Many possibilities: Calling the office of the primary care doctor is a first step in evaluating many symptoms. After an examination and testing, that doctor might know a diagnosis and treatment or might refer a patient to a specialist or subspecialist for further evaluation and care. Then they should discuss the case and include the patient.
