Variable: Citalopram dose might start at 10mg, and be titrated to 20-40mg/day. Hopefully in tandem with psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, or whatever reason for which the medication is prescribed.

Citalopram dose: Typical dose = 20 - 40 mg. Max dose used to be 60mg, but fda took note of cardiac rhythm defects and changed the max dose. In some people, this may not be enough.
