You can transmit this virus at unpredictable times whether you have an outbreak or not. You can only transmit it from the skin you have been infected at. See below: If the virus is limited to chin/lips, then highly unlikely he's contract it thru intercourse. But if there's the possibility of the virus also being present in genital area, then he could easily become infected. Better to use protection. Cdc guidelines for hpv vaccine put him (if he's over 21) beyond the recommended age. If he develops blisters, should see doc for suppressive antiviral med.
