Anxiety : May be the cause. Not unusual to experience this first thing in the morning. You may want to talk to your doctor about treating your anxiety with something other than xanax (alprazolam) which may be longer acting.

SOB in the a.m. : If xanax (alprazolam) is stopping it, it sounds like a simple anxiety problem. Otoh, cardiac problems or lung problems could cause it, and that could be making you anxious. The xanax (alprazolam) might dull the symptoms, but not treat the underlying problem. Talk with your doctor about this.
