Most likely: Do you also have a sense of panic when you have sob? You might try some psychotherapy for that.

SOB may be panic : Sob can be due to panic attacks which is nothing but burst of anxiety; shortness of breath, palpitation, sweating, sense of doom or fear of heart attack. Xanax (alprazolam) will take away panic till its active in system and it is back once it wears off. Ssri medication on the other hand have long term effect, ask your doc about it.

Yes, but: This is almost certainly from anxiety if it's repeatedly relieved by xanax (alprazolam). There may also be a subtle relationship between anxiety-induced shortness of breath and some cases of asthma. Re the anxiety, the less xanax (alprazolam) you require, the better. There are other medicines for the anxiety that you could add, which may help to decrease your need for xanax (alprazolam).
