For 4 years on & off, i've noticed small amounts of mucus in my stool. i started to track it recently-mucus is only on first exited part of stool. why?

See a GI doctor: If you have other symptoms go and get examined, if this is really mucous, it is probably coming from the rectal mucosa (lining of the last part of bowel), which is why it comes out first, if nothing else is going on this is probably benign, but never hurts to be examined and set your mind at ease.
