Many things: Having a hysterectomy can effect the nervous system to the vagina and can also effect the hormone status of the vagina which can have other consequences. Patients can also develop muscle spasms of the pelvic floor following surgery that never was addressed. Women should see a gynecologist to address these problems as they can usually be treated.
