Depends: If your prolactin was elevated due to another medication, which you're no longer taking - you may not need the cabergoline. Otherwise, your doctor may elect a trial where you stop the medication and follow prolactin levels. Most commonly, they will rise after a period of time, necessitating reinitiation of the cabergoline.
