Yes: Get approval from your doctor.. Biggest problem with being seated for a prolonged period of time, it can cause undo swelling so you need to keep it elevated as much as possible (first class seat) . There is also the increased possibility of getting a blood clot (DVT) of the leg. Some rec: wiggly your toes as much as possible to keep blood moving and take baby aspirin. Possibly need Lovenox (enoxaparin) shot.
