D/w OB: Any spotting at 21 weeks gestation is not normal. You should call your OB and bring your wife to her OB for further exam. Thalassemia minor has nothing to do with the spotting. She is anemic- and part of it likely contributed by the thalassemia and the other part is related to pregnancy and others that still need to be evaluated. Bottom line-she will need to get some blood work and f/u with her ob.
