Several causes: A dry mouth and throat alone may cause sensation of drainage and swallowing difficulty. Dryness is often from medications but can also be from other medical conditions such as sjögren's syndrome. There may also be a chronic infection up behind the palate. Get an ENT evaluation. A scope exam is not always needed.

Dry throat: Winter heating can b very drying; so adequate fluid intake is important. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of fluid a day; try saline nasal spray to moisten nasal passages & loosen mucus; gargle w/ warm salt water to moisten mouth or use lemon drops (sugar-free to prevent tooth decay) to stimulate saliva flow. If no improvement, see fp for evaluation & treatment. Vaporizer may help room dryness.
