Yes ... I think: Your question is unclear. If you are asking if a tooth that has already had both a root canal and crown can still become abscessed and painful because it is cracked, the answer is yes. The crack is likely why it needed root canal and crown in the first place. If the tooth is still having problems, it is probably hopeless and may need to be removed and replaced.

Possibly: If the existing crack progresses going down a root or into the crotch of the tooth, bacteria can travel in or out thru the crack, and the ligament that attaches to the root detaches, all leading to swelling and an abscess or fistula.
