Lumps and Bumps: My couple of recommendations, which might not be entirely correct, is to get a full understanding of what the doctor(s) currently think the diagnosis is. Then, your friend might want to see a specialist in endocrinology, rheumatology or orthopedics. A ct scan of the abnormal limbs or calcifications might also provide better diagnosis.

Inherited disorder: Familial hypercholesterolemia, an inherited disease of elevated LDL "bad" cholesterol causes early atherosclerosis resulting in vascular calcifications in the arterial wall plaques (lesions). Fatty deposits in the skin called xanthoma are found around the eyes, elbows, knees & other joints. Read more about this at http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0001429/. Get a good endocrinologist.
