Likely acid reflux: You likely have gerd, gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Stomach acid comes up into the esophagus and throat. Cut back (cut out) acidy, spicy foods, alcohol, anything with caffeine (including chocolate), anything minty. Lose weight if needed. Raise the head of your bed 6 inches so gravity keeps the acid from coming up at night. Try an acid reducer (pepcid, zantac), or Omeprazole (prilosec).
