A member asked:

Why does my gas and poop smell so bad after eating beef ? could it be high bilirubin levels ? see blood test in my health files if needed.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely nitrates.: A great many high protein foods like meat have a high concentration of nitrates, which lead to foul smelling stool. Bilirubin is largely responsible for the color of stool as well as some of the smell.
