My husband has serous fluid retention and insomnia (takes ambien) . dr. gave him flurosemide but it persists. does ambien (zolpidem) exacerbate fluid retention?

Should not: Your husband should re see his doctor to find out what he thinks could be causing the fluid and be worked up for it is that has not yet occurred.

No: His fluid retention sounds cardiovascular. Ambien (zolpidem) won't affect that but any sleeping pill is a bit riskly when congestive heart failure might be in the picture. Discuss with his internist.
