Local irritation: I'm assuming it was a vaccine. There is usually a little inflammation that occurs with a vaccine, and afterwards a small "granuloma" can develop. It can take a few weeks for that to go away, but it doesn't mean anything. Bruising is because local capillaries are ruptured by either the injection of fluid into a closed space, the puncture of the needle itself, or the inflammation.
