DVT: With three episodes of dvt, i agree with your doctor. There are other drugs that could be used besides warfarin but the most experience is with warfarin. There is no procedure which is likely to be indicated for you at the present time, given the information you provided.

Hypercoagulable: Wow, you're pretty young to have had 3 dvts already. Make sure you get tested for any specific hypercoagulable state. Check out http://clevelandcliniclabs.Com/portals/66/pdf/techbriefs/tb_hypercoagulabilitythrombophilia.Pdf for list of some tests. Ask about using novel/new oral anticoagulants like direct thrombin or factor xa inhibitors that won't require testing or special diet. More expensive.
