Let's talk terms: Gender dysphoria is an old term that used to describe a person who didn't like being homosexual. Now it has come to mean a person who would have preferred to be the opposite sex. Transsexualism is the most extreme form but transvestism also qualifies. Psychiatrists are best suited to help you sort out what's really going on and then look with you at options.

Yes! and No! : Gender dysphoria (gd) is a complex disorder that has psychological ramifications best evaluated and documented by a psychologist or psychiatrist with interest/training in this area. If you have gd and wish to proceed with hormone treatment, you should be treated by an endocrinologist with such expertise. Endocrinologists will not proceed with treatment without this documentation.
