Pain: Certainly not informative history. But this may be scenario- if pain on side follows outside leg down into knee could be tensor fascia lata muscle. The actual hip joint is mid groin. Also many bursa. Exercise therapy usual treatment but first need diagnosis. A physical therapist or physician can provide this. Can test as it should be at hip level.
