A member asked:

Is there any system for tracking how many ct scans you can have every year since i am moving across the country?

Yes. CDs.: Get a cd from each place you got a ct and take it with you. It costs a few dollars and will be very valuable in the future. If you need a ct it is very helpful to look at prior exams to examine the changes over time.

Number: There is no limit on the number of ct scans you can have. If you need the imaging studies they should be performed. However, all physicians should try to limit the number of exams you need and repeat only as necessary. There is radiation exposure with a ct scan and you always want to limit this as much as possible. No need to repeat if all you need is a copy of the exam.

Keep track yourself: This is problematic. Imo, every patient/family should keep their own health records as much as possible especially if they move. Separate cd copies of imaging tests and their reports should be requested and retained
