Start with the basic: I would use advil or aleve (naproxen). Heat and rest are also great starting points. If this is a recurring problem a muscle relaxer such as Baclofen or Robaxin may help.

Try options: Most mild to moderate low back pain is inflammatory based, hence anti-inlammatory meds (NSAID) like ibuprofen, naproxen, can be so helpful. If pain bad, try adding acetominophen together with the nsaid, to get additive analgesia and minimizing the side effects of going higher on the nsaid. You can do this safely if done for short time periods. If pain persists, time for your doc to evaluate.
