What can i take if the side of my back hurts?

Any Nsaid, like the : Aleve (naproxen) or Ibuprofen (provided you have no allergy or side effects to these meds) would be helpful. Sometimes a muscle relaxer is helpful, along with a heat/ice pack also is helpful. If no relief after 3-5 days, see your pcp.
