Cluster Headache: You need to see a good headache specialist. This sounds like cluster headache which can be one of the most painful headaches. There are a number of preventive measures like calcium channel blockers like verapamil, occaisionally corticosteroids, and oxygen inhalation for acute attacks. They can be managed once they are recognized.

Probably not: Red eye and the headache probably are not directly related. Better history may allow us to possibly see if there's an indirect relationship. Most likely they are two separate events.

Cluster headache: Cluster headache also gives red eye, tears, stuffy nose along with headache. There are other type of problems that also could give red eye and headache. See a neurologist.
