Periodontal disease?: Gum disease can contribute to bad breath. Inflammation, easy bleeing and recessed gums are signs of gum disease. If you have any of these you should see a dentist. Also try brushing your tongue and gargling. To reduce odors brushing will not solve the problem of halitosis by itself.

Other causes: This can be a sign of more serious periodontal disease, requiring treatment, or other more serious dental infections. It could also be caused by non-dental sources, like infected sinuses, tonsils, adenoids, etc. A thorough evaluation is suggested.

Dental&Medical?: There are many possible causes of both dental and medical origin. The most likely causes are cavities and gum disease. See the following website for more information. Then see your dentist to rule out all dental causes first. If necessary also see your physician. http://smilesapartcosmeticdentist.com/fresh-breath-control.htm.
