How to prevent teeth clenching with braces?

Prevention: You are unlikely to eliminate "clenching;" however, the damage produced can be perhaps be reduced with some type of bite splint or night guard. Ask your orthodontic specialist for advice for your particular situation.

Prevent damage, not.: It's unlikely that you can do something short term to prevent teeth clenching. However, there are things that can be done to prevent damage to your teeth and bone\gums if you do clench. Discuss this issue with your orthodontist who will probably make some suggestion as to treatment.
