How do dentists cure gingivitis?

Home care/cleanings: Normally professional cleanings & instruction in home is sufficient. Untreated cavities or faulty restorations should also be treated.

Gingivitis: Gingivitis means inflammation of the gingiva (gums). Gingivitis is usually due to poor oral hygiene and the accumulation of plaque and tartar around the gum line of the teeth. I recommend you visit a dentist and have a comprehensive exam and a tooth cleaning, if a cleaning is what you need, i advise this because the examination may lead to the diagnosis of gum disease. Then, you may need treatment.

With your help: I think that it is a better idea to think of it as preventing gum disease and then maintaining a healthy mouth. Just as there is no cure for diabetes, keeping your gums healthy involves: 1-daily brushing and flossing 2-a healthy diet 3-professional cleanings and 4-dental checkups. You are the one who really prevents and maintains healthy gums. Have your dentist show you how.

Gums that bleed: Gingivitis is the beginning stages, and by definition, your gums are inflamed, and you might see them bleed when you brush and floss. If this is left untreated, then the infection moves deeper into the jaw, and it progresses to the more severe, periodontal disease.

Prophy: Your dental office can remover your plaque and calculus, but you must do part--your home care with brushing and flossing.

No cure available: We can't cure gingivitis what we do is eliminate it thru treatments and teach you how to properly take care and clean your mouth so it doesn't return but, if you get lazy the buildup of bacteria and it's waste products found in plaque and biofilm will result in the return of gingivitis your daily oral care is so important for keeping problems away.
