Is it safe to use lidocaine jelly during my 36 weeks pregnancy?

Only if needed: Lidocaine has been assigned to pregnancy category b by the fda. Animal studies have failed to reveal evidence of fetal harm. It is widely used for procedures during pregnancy but it does cross the placemta and enter the fetal bloodstream. Lidocaine should only be given during pregnancy when needed. Small amounts are probably ok. Ask your OB doc.

Yes.: Although it is somewhat dependent on where you use the jelly, and how much you use, in general there is insufficient absorption into your body to cause any problems.
