No: Av malformation just means that the arteries connect straight to the veins, bypassing capillaries. The blood will still flow normally back to the heart, it just may have a little bit of oxygen in it still (since all of it did not go into capillaries and supply to the soft tissues and bones). Av malformation just causes problems locally, if at all. Sometimes it's just an incidental finding.
