A member asked:

I have a glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody level of 3.4 u/ml. is this anything to worry about? labcorp says the result is "high".

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why ordered?: This is supposed to be a marker for a kid who's likely to get juvenile onset diabetes. Are you perhaps a newly-diagnosed diabetic? There's talk that elevated antibodies sort-of predicts that diabetes in an adult will behave more like type i diabetes (require insulin) than type ii, but i'm not aware of a consensus on whether there is a treatment guideline.
