Those symptoms sound like a nerve entrapment. The sural nerve runs along that course down the leg into the foot. If it is entrapped or injured, burning pain would be likely. See a podiatrist, neurologist or physiatrist. You will probably need nerve conduction studies to localize the injury.

You probably have irritation or pressure on the nerve. See a podiatrist for evaluation.

This can be caused by a neuropathy which is a damaged nerve. I would recommend that you see a local podiatrist or neurologist and be further evaluted.

The sural nerve on the side of your foot is being pinched or is trapped. Cortisone injections or alcohol injections to destroy the nerve and scar tissue will help.
