Normal: You can have 2 years of normal periods and then experience an abnormal bleed without explanation. Of course, rule out pregnancy, infection, new medications, or other obvious causes. If you have been particularly stressed out, that may also throw off your periods. Most likely, if nothing is out of character for you, you should return to having normal cycles next month.

Difficult question: In absence of your age, character of your periods, birth control pills yes or no, etc.Etc. Nobody could give you an answer you should rely upon. More info is needed not to speak that a pelvic exam should be mandatory possible a trans-vaginal us as well!
