What is a more detailed report of hypotension because of intubation as far as the intrathoracic pressure being increased. all sedatives aside:?

Several causes: The most common cause of low blood pressure after intubation is related to sedative or anesthesia drugs given. Other causes can include assisted ventilation, which increases pressure in the chest and reduces blood flow to the heart. Rarely, lung injury can occur, known as barotrauma. This can lead to a collapsed lung (pneumothorax). In some cases, severe hypotension occurs (tension pneumothorax).

See below: Post intubation being put on a positive pressure ventilator may cause hypotension . The positive pressure ventilation causes increased intathoracic pressure. This increased intathoracic pressure may decrease cardiac preload ( decreased venous return to the heart) this in turn caused decreased cardiac output which causes hypotension. This especially occurs in dehydrated patients.
