Lifestyle changes: High cholesterol is partly hereditary and the extent you can control cholesterol by lifestyle changes can be limited. In some cases, medications are necessary. But lifestyle changes are still essential in the management of high cholesterol. As far as diet for cholesterol goes, you should eat more plant-based foods rich in monounsaturated fat while limiting saturated fat and cholesterol.
