Lisinopril-HCTZ use: The effectiveness of hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) depends on your kidney function. If your glomerular function rate (GFR) is < 50 ml/min, hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) may not be effective and you may need to be on another diuretic, Furosemide for one. If you are over 50 years old and your lisinopril-hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) combo is not controlling your bp, ask your doctor if you can stop the hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) and go on furosemide. Lisinopril lowers proteinuria which is good.
